Gisborne Juniors Kicking Goals!

20 Apr 2015 by Jarrod Greer

A fantastic week for the Gisborne Soccer Club this week with big wins for many of the boys and girls teams!

Gisborne has many players from all over the Macedon Ranges and competes against strong clubs in soccer’s heartland of the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Traditionally it has often been hard work competing with these clubs who have many more players and larger resources. But with a growing population bringing more players and a dedicated group of coaches and managers things are looking up!

Gisborne fields three junior girls teams Under 9s ,11s and 14s and eight boys teams from U8 to U13 and has now started to field teams in higher grades. If this week’s results are anything to go by the teams may need to start playing in still higher grades.

The girls under 11’s played in pouring rain and it was pouring goals with the counting stopping at 20-0.

The U13/14 girls lead all the way before 2 late goals made it a 2-2 draw.

In the boys the U13s won 5-1 and victory was very sweet given they haven’t tasted a lot success over the past years.

The U12s won 11-1 with Ian Watson slotting 7 Goals.

The U11s Wallabies playing in a higher grade won 11-2 in a great team effort.

The U11s Joeys won 9-1.

The 10s won 4-2 away with Thomas Conroy slotting a couple in his first competition match and Will Tucker making a heroic save in goal.

The Under 8 boys have many younger boys in the team but still managed to score 3 goals and the two Under 9 boys teams had a win and a fighting loss.
